PIERCE
  • GERD(Reflux) --- 1 week old - 12 months old
  • Progressive Infantile Scoliosis --- diagnosed at 3 months old (Mar 2010)
  • Aspiration and Dysphagia --- from birth - 4 months old, Pierce micro-aspirated with feeds. Around 10 months old, he overcame his dysphagia and texture aversions.
  • (Gross Motor) Developmentally Delayed until 10 months old but NOT ANY LONGER!!!
  • Mitochondrial Disease --- muscle biopsy performed at 11 months old (Nov 2010); diagnosed at 14.5 months old (Mar 2011)
  • Milk Protein Allergy--- diagnosed at 10 days old; breastfed from birth - 7 weeks old (with some formula supplementation); EleCare from 8 weeks - 12 months old; Coconut milk from 12-18 months old; EleCare Jr and Neocate Jr being used presently
  • Myopia and Astigmatism --- current prescription
  • (Suspected) Hypogammaglobulinemia --- bloodwork pointed to this at 17 months old; a decision will be made on his candidacy for IVIG Therapy in August 2011. As of now, after receiving Pneumovax23 in June 2011, his immune system appears to be responding. He will have follow-up bloodwork in December to re-check his titers.
  • Dysphagia, Pooling (vellculae) due to inadequate tongue base retraction -diagnosed on August 23 via MBSS - will be followed with quarterly MBSS to watch for any progression to penetration and/or aspiration --- thickening liquids, NO straws, eating in upright angle and staying upright for 30 minutes post.
  • Specialists seen --- GI, Genetics, Neurology, Pulmonology, Allergy/Immunology, Opthamology
BRICE
  • GERD(Reflux) --- we thought he only suffered with this from a couple weeks old until 8 months old; we saw some episodes from 14 months - 18 months old... then in January 2011, we realized Brice had been suffering from reflux all along. He took 40mg Nexium daily from March 2011-July 2011 and is presently on 20mg Nexium daily.
  • Hiatal Hernia --- diagnosed at 2.5 years old after an EGD... depending on how symptomatic he continues to be, he could possibly be a candidate for a nissen fundoplication.
  • (Suspected) Hypogammaglobulinemia --- bloodwork pointed to this in June 2011; a decision will be made on his candidacy for IVIG Therapy in August 2011. He is currently taking prophylactic antibiotics. As of now, after receiving Pneumovax23 in June 2011, his immune system appears to be responding. He will have follow-up bloodwork in December to re-check his titers.
  • Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Bronchoscopy & Laryngoscopy - scheduled for October 19, 2011
